Your daddy took you for your first year checkup and shots. You got three shots, had to have blood drawn (poked in the arm three times) and tee-tee in a bag. What a day! You did cry and I think that poor nurse felt extra sad for you. You weighed almost 23 pounds and were 30 1/2 inches tall. You are wearing 12 month pants and 18 month shirts. You can say daddy, ball, and mommy. You wave bye-bye and blow kisses. You give the biggest hugs!
This is what you do most of the time. Put things in your mouth. You want to be just like your brother. I think that you are learning things WAY to fast. You are a daredevil and think that you are 3 turning 4. It scares me. Your favorite past time is trying to find a way to climb the stairs once the gate is closed. Just yesterday you almost got stuck in the banisters trying to follow your brother. Oh my!

Maybe I am a bad mommy, but I just couldn't get it all together to have you a big first birthday. We celebrated as a family with cupcakes and presents. We are having a bigger family birthday over Thanksgiving with everyone. You actually got a touch of the stomach bug for your 1st birthday. It was so sad to see. Your daddy definitely doesn't like throw-up! One thing we are going to have to work on very soon is getting rid of the bottle. You love it more that your brother ever did so this is new to me. He gave it up by himself, but it is going to take some time with you. I think that you are attached.

You loved opening presents and made the cutest surprsied faces when you saw your gifts. Your brother had a hard time with "why isn't it my birthday" but we promised him that he would have his own special day too, very soon. He did insist on helping you open your presents.

We are so blessed to have you in our family. It seems like you have been here forever and fit so perfectly. You are curious, great eater, busy, naughty on occasion, sweet, a hugger and snuggler, funny, HAPPY, and all boy! We love you to the moon and back and you will ALWAYS be our favorite Sam. We pray for many more years to celebrate you and show you HIS love. Thank you, Jesus, for sending this sweet little love to our family.
Love, Daddy, Mommy and Jack

That first picture seems like it was taken yesterday!! Seriously, where does the time go!?! Sweet, sweet one year old BABY Sam. =)
First of all, you are not a bad mommy for not having him a big party. You're a smart, brilliant Mommy who realizes they won't remember the party anyway. However, he will remember the love and hugs and kisses and time you have given him. He'll remember the important things!
And I can't believe he's one! What a sweet gift and treasure he's been for your little family. Here's to many, many, many more!
Will you be in A-Town for Thanksgiving?
